Although this website was never intended to be a political statement because of the events of September 11, 2001 I feel it is important for all Americans to exercise their right of freedom of speech and let their views be known.
As a wife of a Veteran who carries both the physical and emotional scars of the war in Viet Nam, some people believe we should be against America going to war. And like all peace loving Americans, we don’t want a war but, we realize there are times when you have to fight to protect the rights we hold so dear. As Native Americans we know better than most, the necessity to protect our home land. As Native Americans we understand the ideology of protecting the holy land of Mecca. After all, we too have struggled to protect our sacred historical sites. But even though we may understand the ideology we condemn the methods. If Osama Ben Laden truly loves his people, and Ala as he professes he would turn himself in to the UN and force the United States to prove his guilt. Our laws are based upon the presumption of innocence. But I don’t believe his motives are religious but rather an attempt to rule the world using Ala and the religious teachings to control and brainwash people as surely as any other cult leader. The most dangerous person in the world is a person who believes he is acting on behalf of his “God”, and his actions will bring him the eternal reward in heaven. There is no fear when you believe you have an express elevator straight to the right hand of God. This is not a religious war but an attempt by Ben Laden to set himself up as the World Dictator.
In 1993 after the first attack on
the World Trade Center my thoughts were “what a brilliant way to bring down the
world economy”. As we have seen in
the last few weeks, Ben Laden has brought the world economy to it’s knees. Each day that we live in fear, each day
we are forced to shut down our airways and our National Monuments, he has
accomplished his goal. Each drop
in the stock market only furthers his goals. And yet in this time of uncertainty we must protect our
freedom as much as our security. We
also must not repeat the inequities of World War II where we relocated Japanese
American’s to internment camps, and at the same time we must bring those responsible
to justice. How do we separate those exercising
their freedom of speech from those attempting to overthrow the government? We are in a precarious situation and
must shift our paradigm of our thinking.
We truly are one world.
We can no longer afford to hate
based upon the color of a person’s skin, nationality, religion, dress, language
or even sexual orientation. As Timothy
McVeigh proved terrorism is not distinguishable by color, race, religion or
even place of birth but rather is a mentality. The same mentality that brought the acts of Tim McVeigh is
the same type of mentality that brought the acts of violence from the KKK, the Nazi
Party and any other organization or persons who perpetrate hate crimes. I fear that this will be the next step in
our cultural evolution and I urge each of you to look beyond the façade of a
person’s appearance and get to know the real person. There is good and evil in all people. Terrorism’s purpose is
not just destruction but fear and disruption of normal life. Terrorism feeds on mistrust fear and
hatred. We have choices to
make. Do we become victims or
survivors? Are we part of the
solution or part of the problem.
We all have choices to make.
Now, more than ever, the choices make effect not only our future, our
children’s future for the end of all times but the future of the world.
